April & May 2014 Update



Great time of the year with summer upon us, Stanley Cup play-offs, and baseball in full swing!

The days are some of the longest of the year which means extra time hanging with my 21 month old son in the back yard playing catch and goofing around.  That is what life is all about and why I am trying my best to achieve FI.

Anyways, I didn't post an April update so wanted to give a quick summary:
  • Dividends received $673.74:  $288.25 PM, $202.45 GE, $175.46 MO, $7.38 IDGTX
  • Purchases $2050: $750 V at $203.06, $625 ACN at $78.82, $300 AFL at $62.09, $275 KMI at $33.16, $100 PM at $81.87
  • $2724 in total new capital including reinvested dividends
  • Dividend increases +$162
  • Annualized dividend income increased $237 from $12,633 to $12,870
  • Lending Club & interest income $168.75
  • Total passive income $842.29

  • $150 of ACN at $79.88. Yield 2.33%.
  • $100 of GE at $26.59. Yield 3.31%.
  • $100 of PG at $80.44. Yield 3.20%
Also reinvested all dividends.
 
$2,572 in total new capital added (including reinvested dividends) with initial yield of 4.51%. 

Dividend Increases

  • CLX 4.2% raise. +$3.03 annual income.

Annualized Dividend Income

All together, annualized dividend income increased by $119 from last months total of $12,870 to $12,989. This means my dividend stocks will pay $12,989 in dividends over the next 12 months.

Other

  • Lending Club interest received: $184.79
  • Bank interest received: $48.18

Total passive income: $1,104.95. 

Note: This months passive income total is a 49% increase over last years May total.

This weeks purchases 6/3 (Dow 16,722):
  • $150 of AFL at $61.49. Yield 2.41%.
  • $150 of CVX at $122.13. Yield 3.50%. 
  • $100 of PG at $80.25. Yield 3.21%.
$400 of new capital invested adding $12.08 to my annual dividend income.

Note: Small additions to some of the best blue chips on the planet.  Hard to go wrong with that even in a bit of an overheated market.

Sharebuilder DRIP Purchases- AFL, KMR, GE

Reporting my weekly buys that went through today.  Market basically gained back all the ground it lost in the previous week and closed today at 16,676.

This weeks purchases:
  • $150 of AFL at $61.62. Yield 2.40%
  • $150 of KMR at $72.47. Yield 7.62%.
  • $100 of GE at $26.59. Yield 3.31%
$450 of new capital invested adding $18.34 to my annual dividend income.


Note: Continue to like AFL and Kinder at these levels even though both are trading quite higher then my cost basis. First purchase of GE in a while.  I think that it offers decent value here but would prefer a 3.5% initial yield.

  • $150 of ACN at $79.88. Yield 2.33%.
  • $150 of KMR at $70.87. Yield 7.79%.
  • $150 of KMI at $32.42. Yield 5.18%.
 $450 of new capital invested adding $22.94 to my annual dividend income.

Note: Both KMI and KMR are sitting close to 52 week lows and I will continue to add at these levels. 

Today's Kinder purchases pushed me over $1500 go forward annual Kinder dividends.

Dividend Increases

  • FAF 100% raise. +$261.94 annual income.

Annualized Dividend Income

All together, annualized dividend income increased by $453 from last months total of $12,180 to $12,633. This means my dividend stocks will pay $12,633 in dividends over the next 12 months.

Other

  • Lending Club interest received: $73.26
  • Bank interest received: $45.15

Total passive income: $1,826.95

Note: Running a little late on the monthly update.  Nothing too exciting to report. Had $171 in charged off loans in Lending Club account.  I think this is the largest amount of charge offs I have ever had in a month.  I did deposit another $3450 into the account to boost the total to $25k.  Thinking about taking out any interest above $25k each month and putting that into stock purchases.

Note:  Ive had my eye on Visa (V) since the end of 2011 but never pulled the trigger.  Since then, it has doubled.  Decided to initiate a position on the recent pull back.  It's a little pricey here (PE 26), but I will average down if it falls in price.
