Sharebuilder DRIP Purchases

Election Day!

Market was up 133 points to close at 13,246.  Today's additions:
  • $400 of MCD at $87.83. Yield 3.51%.
  • $200 of PM at $87.31. Yield 3.89%.    
  • $200 of MO at $32.04. Yield 5.49%.  
  • $200 of KMI at $33.94. Yield 4.24%.
Total purchases of $1000 and added $41.28 to my annual dividend income.

    Just wondering what's the commission for each trade. I pay 9.95 so it would cost me lots to buy often.

    Thanks for stopping by!

    I am enrolled with a plan with Sharebuilder.com where I get 12 orders each month for $12. Each additional purchase is $1.

    The cavaet is that the purchases go through on Tuesdays of every month. Before each Tuesday, I decide how much I will invest and in which companies.

    While I do not get the best price by setting limit orders, I find it a great way for building a portfolio through routine smaller purchases.

    I do use limit orders for larger purchases and the fee is $7.95.
