March 2013 Dividend Income Update

March is always one of my favorite months of the year.  The weather starts getting nicer, an extra hour of daylight, March Madness, baseball season about to start, and my semi-annual dividend payments hit!  Finished with my largest month ever as I broke the $1300 mark.

  1. AA, it is a great result. I like 1300 in dividends. It is awesome!

  2. Wow, nice work! I like some of your acquisitions this past month, and you are marching pretty steadily to the 10k per year mark in dividends! Pretty spectacular!

  3. Awesome month! I was thrilled to have broken $500/mo. $1300 is just incredible. We also had a lot of similar purchases recently.

I did have a question though. Why are you buying RDS.A over RDS.B? There's no foreign witholdings on RDS.B in a U.S. Account but there is with RDS.A. I know you can claim a credit but there is a chance you don't get the full credit back.

You are kicking butt, keep up the good work!

  4. Martin,
Thanks for stopping by! March and December are my big 2 dividend months as I collect some semi-annual payments. Looking forward to the day where I can collect $1300 in the other 10 months of the year!

  5. Writing2Reality,
Thanks man! My goal for 2013 is $12,000 go forward dividends by end of the year. Im a little behind now so will try to make up for lost ground.
    Thanks for the comment!

  6. All About Interest,

Yes, we do have similiar purchases. I think we both see some value in the same names.

There is no tax withholding if you auto reinvest the RDS.A dividends (which I do). Since I DRIP them, I started buying the A shares (they are cheaper and pay the same dividend as the B shares).

  7. I should also say, if you want to buy and reinvest the A shares, check with your broker and make sure they participate in Shell's Scrip Dividend Program before you buy.

    Sharebuilder is.

  8. AA,

Phenomenal. Just phenomenal. Keep up the great work.

Those semi-annual dividends gotta feel great.

You're investing at a tremendous rate. You'll be earning a middle class salary from your dividends here pretty soon. Awesome!

This just goes to show how important consistency and persistence really are.

    Best wishes!

  9. Thanks DM.

Like you, I just keep plugging away. We will both be at FI one day but the journey to your goal is sometimes more rewarding then the end result.

  10. Wow, that's a ton of dividend income. Nice work. I'm curious what you think about EXXON cutting their dividend 30% though? Do you plan on holding that stock ?

  11. Larry,

Thanks for dropping by. For now I am holding. It has bounced back nicely since they cut the dividend and I think management will eventually turn the ship around. EXC is the only utility I hold and makes up less then 4% of my portfolio.
