I see that you use ShareBuilder's Automatic Investments- do you just change the weightings of your purchases the Monday before when you don't want to buy as much?
Hi Brian, yes, I make my selections and amount on Monday before the market closes. The buys then go through on Tuesday. I have been doing this for roughly 3 years and have been very satisfied with the program and results.
Nice purchases. I like Visa a lot, but it is quite expensive stock for me, so I use Motif Investing to buy it in increments, similar to 401k way of buying investments. Good job!
Martin, I agree V is a little pricey but think it's a decent value here. If it falls in price, I will buy more! I like the company, it's growth prospects, and it's pristine balance sheet.
Sharebuilder is awesome. I have been with them before CapitalOne and ING. I think they got the message about fractional share investing. Now Scottrade got on board with the FRIP so you can reinvest without fees. Like KMI for your portfolio. V at these levels not as much. Keep up the good work!
Nice pick up with KMI...I noticed the stock price receded this past week and thought of adding to our position. Maybe next week.
But overall, we are waiting for a pull back before we increase our buying activity also. We'll continue to buy a little each month with new capital but have a nice little reserve that we are hoping to use for upcoming "opportunities."
I'm also into KMI and planning to get some more now that price is under my initial buy. KMI represents 2.8% of my portfolio, which is completely dividend oriented. My whole portfolio is at http://www.dividendogma.com/cartera-de-valores/
By the way, Visa has such a low yield right now that you must have seen huge growth ahead. Could you comment on that?
I am also waiting for a pullback and am just nibbling a little each week. I bought some more Kinder last week and have Kinder buys going through tomorrow with my Sharebuilder account.
With that said, I am about 25% cash now so am patiently waiting.
My portfolio is also heavily dividend oriented and I own 8 of the same stocks as you. My Kinder (KMI,KMR) postion makes up 6.2% of my portfolio. My V position makes up .2%.
Ive been following Visa since 2011 but never pulled the trigger. It has doubled since. It has all the makeup of a future dividend champion: wide moat, great balance sheet, very shareholder friendly, not capital intensive, outstanding growth prospects as we (and the 2nd, 3rd world) move into more and more of a cashless society.
I will buy more aggressively the lower the price goes (and I am not buying here at $210).

DivHut,
ReplyDeleteI have also been very happy with Sharebuilder and have used it to build a decent size portfolio.
I continue to like both KMI (and KMR) at these levels and have been adding.
I will increase my V allocation as it drops in price.
